Welcome to the Matters and Evidence Database
Using the tools in this part of our web site you can:
- Search for and display the status of matters (cases) being dealt with by the Board
- Search for and display evidence and other documents related to the matter.
Simply select the search screens or lists from the menu above. Please note that some documents are larger and may take some time to appear after being selected.
The public can access information on almost all matters or cases before the Board. It is important that matters be accessible so that the public can assess the fairness and effectiveness of the Board's activities. While the vast majority of matters are publicly disclosed certain types of matters, such as compensation appeals made by victims of crime, may contain sensitive personal information and are suppressed from viewing to protect the privacy of the parties.
In addition to general information on the matter, documents filed as evidence, where provided in electronic form, may also be included on this site for public convenience. Such documents may contain personal information such as names and addresses. In proceedings where there is significant public interest the Board may require parties to file evidence in electronic form in order to provide better access to both the public and others involved.
The Board's Rules permit a party to request some information be filed in confidence where disclosure could reasonably be seen to cause harm to an individual or organization. Information filed in confidence is not included in this site but may be referred to as being on the record. The Board's Rules permit parties to challenge confidential filings.
